Marriage
Historic St Michael’s church is a popular venue for weddings, and this is a
growing part of our ministry and outreach as a parish. Couples prepare for marriage with the parish clergy and/or through Anglicare. Information about our wedding ministry is available here or through a brochure available in the church porch.

Ministry to the sick
The clergy and other members of the ministry team are available to support people who are sick or have particular needs. Hospital visiting, sacramental ministry, family support and limited medical advice and assistance are all available through the parish. Enquiries in the first instance are through the Pastoral Assistant and Parish Nurse. In times of crisis or emergency the clergy may be contacted directly.

Parish Nursing is a health ministry within the parish community, with the
opportunity for outreach. The aim is to support people through naturally occurring changes in life, and when health problems arise, to act as advocate, and make referrals where appropriate. Thus people can be enabled to take control of their own lives and well-being.

Our health system is very complex and can be confusing, and the Parish Nursing Team is very willing to help if they can (see Ministry contacts)

Funerals
Funerals are conducted by the parish clergy in St Michael’s and at other venues. Parish members and families are encouraged to approach the clergy directly to discuss their wishes, without waiting for the funeral director to do so. A file is kept in the Rector’s office where members of the congregation can record their preferences for funeral arrangements, such as hymns, type of service etc. This can be a great help to family members and clergy when planning a funeral service.
